Judy Teresa Herron
6/23/1946 – 10/29/2026
With heavy hearts, yet with gratitude to God for the beautiful life she lived, we come together to mourn the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend, Judy Herron, who peacefully departed this life at the age of 80.
She lived a long and beautiful life filled with love, faith, kindness, and devotion to her family. Her life was a blessing to everyone who knew her, and her love was a gift that will continue to live in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Above all else, she was a woman of God. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her through every season and giving her strength during difficult times. She trusted in the Lord, believed in the power of prayer, and found comfort in knowing that God was always by her side. Through her words, her actions, and the way she treated others, she showed her family what it meant to live with faith, grace, patience, and a loving heart. She taught those around her that no matter what life brings, God’s love is everlasting.
Her greatest joy was her family. She loved her children deeply and took pride in watching her family grow through the generations. Whether she was offering words of wisdom, preparing a favorite meal, sharing stories from years gone by, or simply gathering everyone together, she had a special way of making those she loved feel safe, welcomed, and cherished. Her home was a place of warmth, her embrace was a place of comfort, and her prayers were a constant expression of her love.
She was the heart of her family, the voice of reason when times were difficult, and the gentle reminder that love and faith could carry us through anything. She celebrated the accomplishments of her loved ones, comforted them in their sorrows, and gave freely of herself without ever asking for anything in return. Her greatest legacy was not measured in material possessions, but in the lives, she touched, the values she passed down, and the love she planted in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Though the years brought changes and the passing of time, her spirit remained strong, her heart remained generous, and her faith remained steadfast. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to shine through every generation of her family. The lessons she taught, the prayers she prayed, the laughter she shared, and the memories she created will forever be treasured.
Judy was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Herron; her parents, Joe and Alice Lightsey; and her brother, John Lightsey.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her children: Teresa Stephens (Kenneth) of Brierfield, AL; Sandy Stock (John) of Alabaster, AL; Tammy Lawrence (Greg) of Centreville, AL; Doug Langston (Angie) of Centreville, AL; and Lee Bo Langston of Brent, AL. She is also survived by her sisters, Cherry Welborn of Germantown, TN, and Doris Green of Alabaster, AL; her brothers, Joe Lightsey (Connie) of Hoover, AL, and Brent Lightsey (Tully) of Vincent, AL; eight grandchildren, Brandon and Courtney Stephens, Kevin Lawrence, Lacey Hightower, Lindsey Colburn, Andrew and Alaina Stock, and Mia Langston; six great-grandchildren, Spencer Stephens, Linlee Murphy, Kenadie and Bradley Colburn, and Harper and Hayes Hightower; and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones whose lives were made richer by knowing her.
Greg Suttle, Frank Nichols, Robert Parker, Bo Deloach, Kurt Smith, and Donnie Dial will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be the workers of Soup Kitchen, Lois Skaggs, Linda Renn, Wanda Whaley, the wives of the Prayer Line Live Team, Thomas Hill, Erica Oliver, Shay Davis, and Dr. Innis Shelton and staff at Alabama Oncology.
Although our hearts ache because we must say goodbye, we find comfort in the promise of God's Word and the assurance that this earthly farewell is not the end. We rejoice in knowing that she has completed her earthly journey and is now resting peacefully in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. As Scripture reminds us in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
Mom, thank you for loving us so completely, praying for us so faithfully, and teaching us to keep God first in all that we do. Thank you for the sacrifices you made, the wisdom you shared, and the countless ways you showed us what a mother's love truly means. We will miss your voice, your smile, your gentle presence, and the comfort of knowing you were always there. Though we can no longer hold your hand, we will forever carry your love in our hearts. Your life was a blessing, your memory is a treasure, and your love will never fade. You have left this world better than you found it, and your legacy will live on through every life you touched.
Rest peacefully, dear Mother. Your work on earth is done, your faith has carried you home, and your soul is in the hands of God. Until we meet again, we will love you always.
