

Kris was born on March 3, 1982, in Katy, Texas, to Syble and Anil Karkare. He was raised in Katy and attended Katy High School. Kris later earned both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude, from Houston Baptist University. He went on to become a Certified Public Accountant, and worked with several leading accounting firms.
Kris married Jocabed Sarai Martinez on July 31, 2015. Together, they welcomed their son, Ethan Kris Karkare, who was 9 years old at the time of Kris’s passing.
Kris was preceded in death by his father, Anil Karkare; his paternal grandparents, Ashwinikumar and Shanta Karkare; and his maternal grandparents, Warren and Mildred Harmon.
Kris is survived by his mother, Syble Karkare, his son, Ethan Kris Karkare; Ethan’s mother, Jocabed Sarai Martinez; his siblings, Elicia Garcia and her husband, Kenneth Oliver, and Joel Mills and his wife, Jenny Mills; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kris enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. He was an accomplished bowler, achieving two perfect 300 games during his bowling career. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Houston Astros and Houston Rockets, a voracious reader, and enjoyed shopping for clothes, where his personal style reflected his appreciation for looking his best. Kris was also an animal lover.
Above all, Kris valued the time he spent with his son, Ethan. They enjoyed building Legos, playing board games, going to the beach, watching movies, and staying connected through video calls when they were unable to be together. These shared moments were an important part of their relationship.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Hickman Chapel in McCalla, Alabama.
