Mary Elizabeth McCrory

January 31st 1932- March 7th 2026

McCrory, Beth age 94 passed away peacefully in her home in West Blocton, Al surrounded by her family on March 7th, 2026.

Mary Elizabeth “Beth” was born on January 31st 1932 in Dogwood, Montevallo, Al. She attended West Blocton High School and Graduated in 1949. Beth always had a love for school and being able to teach others while in the classroom atmosphere. After graduating high school, she then went on to pursue her Masters in Education at “Livingston” which is formerly known today as the University of West Alabama. During her senior year at Livingston in 1953, Beth won the title “Miss Livingston” for the schools beauty contest. She was a cheerleader and very well known for her academics and leadership. In 1954 Beth married Mr. Vernon McCrory of ( York, Al) where they had three children. Michael V. McCrory, L. Scott McCrory, and Kelley A. McCrory). From 1954-1956 Beth taught at Minor High School From 1960-1964 she taught at Hewitt Trussville High School. Then from 1968- 1998 she taught for thirty years then retired from Austin High School, and in 1999 she moved back to her hometown in West Blocton, Al to be closer to her family.

She was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Teacher to everyone that she knew, and to know her was in fact to love her. She had the most beautiful and giving soul to everyone. Beth was an active member of Bible Methodist Church in West Blocton, Al for over 30 years where she sang in the choir with her late siblings. She will truly be missed by many.

Mary Elizabeth Fitts McCrory is preceded in death by her parents: Lester O. Fitts Sr. and Mary Etta Fitts.

Her siblings: Lester O. Fitts Jr., Dorothy Ann Fitts, and Joan Fitts Shattuck.

Her daughter: Kelley Ann McCrory

She is survived by her Two sons: Michael V. McCrory and L. Scott McCrory (Spouse, Jessica McCrory ) her nephews Jeff Shattuck (Spouse April Shattuck and their two sons Parker Shattuck and Carson Shattuck) Cary Shattuck (Daughter Caitlin Shattuck) her Grandchildren: Shannon McCrory (daughter, Rory Jolee Adkins) Chris McCrory (Spouse, Janel A. McCrory and their two sons Landon T. Stoltz and Tristan A. Stoltz) Emily McCrory (daughter Laiken Cryer) and Julia McCrory, Katie McCrory (Spouse, Kresly Harris and their son Chayce Michael Harris) Blaine McCrory Hunnicutt (Spouse, Brian Hunnicutt and their children Kallie R. Hunnicutt and Cameron T. Hunnicutt) Kylie Cook Shelton (Spouse, John Shelton and their children Tucker L. Shelton and Rylie A. Shelton). Arrangements will be held at Bible Methodist Church in West Blocton, AL on March 14, 2026 at 11:00am with church service at 12:00pm graveside burial to follow at Mount Carmel cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Bible Methodist Church on March 14, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at the at 12:00 pm.
