

Nettie Kathryn (Lightsey) Stacy, age 91, of Centreville, Alabama went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Nettie was born May 28, 1932 in Centreville, AL to John Edward and Annie Mae (Faulk) Lightsey.
Nettie was head drum majorette at Bibb County High School. She graduated in 1950. In 1948, she was crowned "Miss West Alabama" in Tuscaloosa. She received a BS degree in Education from The University of Alabama in 1955. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and the National Honor Society in Education. She attended the University of Montevallo for her graduate studies. Her teaching experiences were at Northington Elementary in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Smith's Station in Lee County, Perry Christian in Perry County and Cahawba Christian Academy in Centreville.
Nettie loved her family dearly. She loved to read her Bible and read it through many times. She thoroughly enjoyed music and loved to play board games with her children and her caregivers. She also enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center to be with her friends and play Bingo.
Nettie was married to Samuel "Jack" Jackson Stacy, Sr. for 58 years before his passing in 2010. They were high school sweethearts. She is survived by their four beautiful children: Samuel "Sam" Jackson Stacy, Jr., Karol Stacy McCaleb (Charles), John Harper Stacy (Pat), and Angela Stacy Carden (Mike); grandchildren, Katie M. Luker (Matthew), Kimberly M. Anderson (Parker), Erica S. Wilson (Matt), Monica S. Buckner (AJ), Michael Carden, and Stacy C. Posten (Broedy); great-grands, John Parker, Charlie Grace, and Anna Michael McCaleb, Levi and Laney Luker, Madi Parker and Evie Anderson, Harper Wilson, Addie Jane Buckner, Sara Frances and Marlee Rae Carden, Skylar and Isaiah Posten; sister, Mary Lightsey Hicks and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel "Jack" Stacy Sr.; her parents, John Edward Lightsey and Annie Mae Faulk Lightsey; brothers, Joe and Jack Lightsey; sisters, Louise Nichols and Margaret Alonzo; and grandson, Charles Parker McCaleb.
A visitation for Nettie will be held Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Centreville Baptist Church, Court Square East, Centreville, Alabama 35042 followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM at the church. Burial will be at Pineland Memorial Cemetery following the service.
