Rita attended the Art School at the University of Oklahoma. She enjoyed attending church and was known to most family friends as a Proverbs 31 woman. She thoroughly enjoyed reading the bible daily. Family gatherings were her favorite because she valued spending time with family. Rita was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin.
She is survived by her daughter, Regina Averette; grandchildren, Summer (Robert) Carroll, Mathias Daniel Hirschey, and Christan Carter; great-grandchildren, Wesley, Jayden, Blaine, and Malachi; sisters, Deborah Allgood and Virginia (John) Tucker; brothers, Bruce (Debra) Hamilton and Jose Cruz; and a host of family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Fikes; step-father, Richard Fikes; father, Doyal Hamilton; grandson, T.J. McKinney; and brother, William Joseph Cruz.
A visitation for Rita will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at True Vine Full Gospel Church, 2293 Main St, Brent, Alabama, followed by a memorial service at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Morrison officiating.
