Rita Eady

She is survived by her children, Garry Eady (Sheila), Amy Randolph (Tony), and Linda Cox (Darron); seven grandchildren, Wade Eady (Tara), Tyler Hubbard (Hayley), Courtney Allen (Andrew), Cameron Hubbard, April Smith (Jacob), Jessica Kinard (Colby), and Amelia Hubbard; and ten great-grandchildren, Emory, Ava, Reese, Olivia, Luca, Mykah, Atlas, Turner, Nolin, and Presley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, A.W. and Gladys Day, her husband, Weldon Eady, and her son-in-law, Roy Hubbard.

Strength is the word that best describes Rita. She was resilient in every sense of the word, facing life’s challenges with determination, grace, and an unwavering faith.

She grew up an only child, married at the age of 19, and spent her life putting others before herself. For many years, she lovingly cared for her mother after she suffered a stroke, as well as her husband throughout his battle with multiple sclerosis, all while raising her three children and working full time. After losing her husband when she was just 56 years old, she never remarried, choosing instead to build a life of independence while continuing to care for and support those around her.

She was truly a survivor. She overcame cancer more than 25 years ago, and in December of 2000, she lived through a devastating tornado that forever changed so many lives. Through every hardship, she remained faithful, proving time and time again that strength wasn’t just something she possessed—it was who she was.

Rita also found tremendous joy in giving. There was nothing she loved more than finding the perfect gift for someone she cared about. In later years, when shopping became more difficult, QVC became one of her favorite pastimes because it allowed her to continue blessing others with thoughtful gifts.

Throughout her life, she was known for her strong work ethic and servant's heart. She worked for many years with several attorneys, earning the nickname “Legal Eagle” for her dedication, knowledge, and dependability. She served at Antioch Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School and preparing the weekly church bulletins. She also served as a Sunday School teacher at Brent Baptist Church and was a faithful member of Circlewood Baptist church for many years. She remained active and hardworking well into her later years, continuing her work with Edmonds Enterprises until after her 90th birthday.

Rita will be remembered for her strength, her generous spirit, her deep love for the Lord and her family, and the example she set through a life well lived.

Services will be held at Antioch Baptist Church on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with burial immediately following the service.
