Ruby Laverne Pierson

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Ruby Lavern Pierson, who left this world on July 24,2025 at the age of 97. A widow, and a proud mother to 14 children each, of whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally, and a grandmother to a host of many grandchildren. Her home was rarely quiet, often filled with laughter, the scent of something home cooked, and the unmistakable sound of Elvis Presley playing in the background. Whether it was "Love Me Tender" or "Jailhouse Rock", she knew every lyric and sang along with a twinkle in her eye and a hip shake that could rival the King himself.

Her love multiplied through generations and her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family, each of whom she spoiled with hugs, love and advice.

Though she has gone on to be the with the Lord, and perhaps to finally meet Elvis in person, we know her love will echo in our hearts forever. She was cherished by many and had countless names, from Maw Maw, Granny, Grandma Pierson, Mother, Sister, and Friend.

Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens and I will give you rest.

Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Howard Pierson; parents, Emery Martin Burnett and Mamie Roberta George; siblings, Mamie George, Presley Burnett, Ada Hinsley, Irene Green, Mildred Harmon, Burnice Foster; children, Joyce Marie Miller, Ronny Lynn Pierson, Pamela Denise Smith, William Michael Pierson, Manley Eugene Pierson, Roscoe Howard Pierson Jr., and Lynda Sue Gilbert.

She is survived by her daughters, Clara Diane Brown, Tammy Darlene Middelton, Vicky Rena Martin; sons, Larry James Pierson, Gary Wayne Pierson, Rickey Joe Miller, and Robbie Steven Miller; siblings, Faye Smith; a host of grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held for Ruby at Rockco Funeral Home in Centreville, Al on Wednesday July 30, 2025 from 11am - 12pm with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at Hickman Chapel Cemetery following service.
