I live in Selma, and now also Dothan, but, remember Rufus for about 15 years at the Maplesville Auction. He was always friendly, nice and smiling and usually wearing a Bama cap...………... Roll Tide and God Bless! Deepest Sympathy!

Such A Wonderful Uncle - I have fond memories of Uncle Rufus, From the times I was young visiting my Grandmother to the last days. He was his mama's baby boy and he was spoiled rotten by her and his 4 Sisters. He loved hamburger steak and French fries and his Mama had them ready when he walked through the door. I don't know if they had frozen fries back then but I peeled a lot of potatoes! 8-9 years ago I moved to Centreville and discovered what a an awesome person he was. He loved his family , (especially Jacob) lake life , auctions, panning for gold , digging for treasures , guns, hunting , and watching old westerns. His talents were many and included carving anything from totem poles, bears and elephants to carving rocks into arrowheads and tomahawks . And, he made beautiful jewelry! He loved to paint and draw and I will always treasure my painting from him . This is probably not all of his hobbies and talents but all I can think of right now. Everyone I meet in this town knows Rufus Kornegay and has a story about him, whether it was back in his football days or some kind of mischief they had been into! I loved his story telling and looking at the many treasures he found and brought over to show me. He would help anybody in any way he could and was a friend to so many. He was married to his sweetheart for 50 years and she was with him till the very end. And, in the end , he never gave up. He left this world a winner! Who reading this can even come close to having the adventurous life that Uncle Rufus did? Not me , and not many. Katherine , Kristin and Jacob , my prayers are with you all. RIP REK
