Mrs. Vivian Lynette Young

Vivian Lynette Young, age 78 and a resident of Thorsby, Alabama, went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 21, 2024. She was born on June 12, 1946 in Groton, Connecticut, but lived most of her life in Alabama with her loving husband of 60 years.

She was a true servant of Christ and exemplified God’s love even through her suffering in her final days. She lived Psalm 19:14 and it was reflected each and every day. “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Oliver Merritt and Catherine Emma Merritt, her brother David Eugene Merritt, sister Ellen Wendy Merritt, son-in-law Brian David Shrader, and great grandson Kayson Nicholas Cook.

Vivian is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Grover Young, her brothers Stephen Merritt (Shirley) and Mark Merritt (Ellen), sister Esther Hurst (Richard), children Cheryl Layton (Tommy), Susan Carroll (Chris), Scott Young (Claudia), April Bradley (Kris), Becky Shrader (widow of Brian Shrader), and Stephen Young (Raelene), grandchildren Heather Tubbs, Christian Layton, Christopher Ingram, Chandler Ingram, Zoe Carroll, Andrew Carroll, Jessica Cook, Christina Young, John Thomas Bradley, Ella Bradley, Kaitlyn Orso, Hailey Shrader, Jacob Shrader, Leelan Young, Greyson Young, Corbin Young, Nathan Young, Issac Young, Abram Young, Melvin Young, their spouses, and great grandchildren Walker Tubbs, Graham Layton, Jackson Cook, Roseanna Cook, Hudson Cook, Parker Orso, Henry Orso, and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Scott Young, Christian Layton, Christopher Ingram, Chandler Ingram, Jacob Shrader, JT Bradley, Andrew Carroll, and Leelan Young.

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 1:00 pm with a funeral service at 2:00 pm at Rockco Funeral Home, Centreville, Alabama. A graveside service will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
