Walter Martin Green passed peacefully from this life on September 25, 2018 at the age of 82.
He was born on November 13, 1935 in North Orange, Massachusetts to Arthur Howard and Mary Adella (Moore) Green.
Funeral services will be held at Rockco Funeral Home in Centreville, Alabama on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Visitation begins at 10am and services will start at 11am. Burial will follow at Pineland Memorial Cemetery. Chaplain Jon Killingsworth will officiate.
He is survived by his daughters, Jodi Green Hamby and Phyllis Green Watkins, sister Marilyn Green Legrand (Ronnie), granddaughter Arline Watkins Duncan (Derek), great grandsons Weston Martin and Easton Lawrence Duncan and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mary Green, the mother of his children Katherine Thomson Green and his sister Beverly.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Burt, Jody Wade, Mack Smitherman, Tim Brown, Derryll Banks, and Mark Foster. Honorary pallbearers will be Hospice of West Alabama, Dr. John Meigs and staff, Dr. Wayne Taylor and staff, Dr. Raymond Poore and staff, Dr. David Allgood and staff, Dr. John Crew, Dr. Susan Bostic, staff of DCH Cancer Center, Dr. George Hemstreet and staff, employees of DCH Regional Medical Center, former employees of N.D.Cass Company, and his extended family at Rockco Funeral Home.
Mr. Walter (as he was called by many) moved his family from Athol, Massachusetts to Centreville, Alabama in 1962. He worked as the mill room supervisor at N.D. Cass Company in Brent, Alabama until his retirement. He was also employed by Rockco Funeral Home for many years and enjoyed serving the citizens of Bibb County. His hobbies were working and spending time with his family. He will be missed by the many people who loved him.
