Alice Doran

Alice Viola Dunn Doran passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at the age of 92, surrounded by her family. She was born in New Orleans to the late William Joseph Dunn and Mary “Ruth” Zimmerman Dunn. Beloved and devoted wife of 65 years to Raymond Charles Doran, Sr. Loving and caring mother of Raymond C. Doran, Jr. (Gloria), Barbara Doran Serpas (Frank), and Michael E. Doran. Loving grandmother to Jessica Doran Guillot, Natalie Doran Tallet, Raymond C. Doran III, Eric Doran, Frank E. Serpas, Jr., Alicia Serpas Kewin, Matthew J. Serpas, Hannah Doran and Peter J. Gimre. Great grandmother of eleven. Devoted sister of Eugenia Dunn Berthelot, Mary Dunn Maggiore, and the late Gerald Dunn, Geraldine Dunn, Lourdes Dunn St. Phillip, John C. Dunn and Andrew Dunn. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Alice graduated from Redemptorist High School and St. Mary’s grammar school in the Irish Channel of New Orleans. She worked as a riveter for Consolidated during WWII. Alice later worked and retired from New Orleans Police Department. Her sense of humor and her faith in God stayed with her throughout her life.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, September 25, 2014, from 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
