Arthur Schlesinger Jr.

Arthur Edward Schlesinger Jr. was born on January 2, 1936 and passed away peacefully while surrounded by his fours daughters on Monday, January 24, 2022 at the age of 86. He was the beloved father of Cheryl S. Caruso (Don), Dara S. Hoffpauir (Carl), Christine S. Waller (Al) and Barbie S. Jaufre (Bruce). Loving step-father of Paul Brossette (Leah), Rhonda Glorioso (John) and Deborah Roberts (Jeff). Son of the late Arthur Edward Schlesinger Sr. and Emelia Hardouin Schlesinger. Proud grandfather of Mark Caruso (Megan), Laura Hoffpauir (Andrew), Carl Hoffpauir (Ashley), Michelle Meyer (PJ), Alaina Johnson (Seth), Chelsey Molyneux (Joe), Kristen Dunn and Kourtney Dunn. He is also survived and fondly remembered by his 14 great grandchildren, along with many cousins, relatives and dear friends.

Arthur was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of Chalmette, LA, finally settling in Slidell, LA following hurricane Katrina. He was lovingly known to us as Dad, Grandpaw and Papa. He found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for others. Arthur will always be remembered for his loyalty and dedication to his family, his caring and loving spirit, his laughter, and spoiling the grandchildren. He was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others and will be deeply missed by us all.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, January 31st from 9:00AM – 11:00AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Arthur’s memory beginning at 11:00AM. He will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
