Audrey Dummet McDaniel

Audrey D. McDaniel passed away peacefully on her birthday, Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the age of 95. She was the cherished wife of the late Ira “Buddy” B. McDaniel Jr. Loving mother of Michael McDaniel (Rita), Gary McDaniel (Caryl), Patricia Morlier and Ira Bragg McDaniel III. Proud grandmother of Jennifer McDaniel (Chris), Dr. Gary Stephen McDaniel Jr. (Missy), Kenneth McDaniel (Brittany) and Jason Morlier (Lauren), Denise Ditman (Jeff) and Paul Morlier Jr. (Jeri-Lynn). She is also survived and fondly remembered by her 9 great-grandchildren, along with many relatives, cousins and dear friends.

Born in New Orleans, Audrey was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Slidell, LA, where she spent the last years of her life. Audrey found joy in the simple pleasures of life — gardening, reading mystery novels, creating beautiful arts and crafts, and most of all, caring for her family. She had a deep love for nature, volunteering her time at City Park’s Botanical Gardens in her younger years, and kept herself active through water aerobics. Her devotion to those she loved was enduring, and her kindness touched everyone around her. Audrey will be remembered for her unwavering loyalty to her family, her warm, loving spirit, her laughter, and her special way of spoiling her grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Audrey taught those closest to her the importance of caring for others, appreciating life's small moments, and finding beauty in the world around her. She was a true example of selflessness and love, and her absence leaves a void that will never be filled. Rest in peace, dear Audrey. You will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
