Bertha Schmidt Arsenaux Guillemet, Age 94, native of New Orleans and a resident of Chalmette, LA for the past 35 years, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Albert E. Guillemet. Mother of Bruce M. Arsenaux (Cheryl) of Waveland, MS and Dianne A. Fields (Craig) of Covington, LA. Grandmother of Bradley M. Arsenaux, Jennifer A. Delahoussaye (Preston), Matthew C. Fields (Megan) and Christine A. Fields (Codi). Great Grandmother of Addison Claire Foley, Sullivan Kate Fields, Crew Alexander Fields and Eliot Craig Fields. Also survived by many dear friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin C. and Ernestine T. Schmidt and her sister, Bernice S. Showalter.
She retired from F. W. Woolworth Co. after more than 35 years, having started at the store on Canal and Bourbon Streets and then the store on Canal and N. Rampart Streets in New Orleans. She was a member of the Crescent City Campers Club, enjoyed travelling, visits to the Casinos and spending time with family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 11:30 AM- 1:30 PM. A funeral service will begin at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow in ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL GARDENS.
