Betty Morales Borne

Betty Morales Borne, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend and beloved matriarch of her family was born on September 14, 1935. She passed away on August 26, 2026 at the age of 90.

She was the beloved wife of the late Carroll J. Borne, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, devotion, and cherished memories. Betty was the only daughter of the late Paul Morales and Carlita Gonzales Morales.

Betty’s greatest joy was her family. Her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the center of her world and with whom she shared boundless love.

She was the devoted mother of Pattie Holley and her former son-in-law Alvin Holley, Jr. (Rita), and Randy Borne, Sr. and her daughter-in-law Sheila.

She was the treasured “Grannie” to Carol Holley Knight (Joshua), Casey Holley Saavedra (Kenneth), Crystal Holley DeBlonde (Britt, Sr.), Randy Borne, Jr. (Lindsey), Colby Holley (Nicholas Rancatore), and Brandon Borne (Paige).

Her love multiplied and extended to her twelve great-grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure: Nathan Saavedra, Kaleb Saavedra, Aubrie Knight, Kane Saavedra, Britt DeBlonde, Jr., Brynn Knight, Demi DeBlonde, Emrie Rancatore, Luke Borne, Eli Borne, Emma Borne, and Elle Rancatore.

She always had a special bond with her cousin Jack Russell and his wife Leona. She considered him her brother since she was an only child. Although many years ago they moved to Texas, distance did not diminish the love they shared.

For almost 50 years Betty served as a Deputy Clerk of St. Bernard Parish Clerk of Court Office under the leadership of the late Sidney Torres Jr. and Lena Torres. Although she retired many years ago, the friendships she formed throughout her career remained a meaningful part of her life.

Betty’s life was also enriched by a small, special group of friends whose friendships stood the test of time. Their bond went far beyond ordinary friendship. They spent countless hours talking on the phone, laughing, sharing stories, and catching up as though they were teenagers again. Somehow, they never seemed to run out of things to talk about. Their conversations were filled with love, laughter, friendship, and the simple joy of having one another. They shared food, fun, laughter, and countless memories at their many gatherings. These friendships were a beautiful reminder of Betty’s ability to bring people together and make those around her feel loved and valued. Shirley Gioe or as she called her "BFF" was her partner in crime. Cindy Gallardo wasn’t far behind. A deeply connected trio.

Betty was blessed in life when she married Carroll, a man who came from a large family of eight brothers and five sisters. From the moment she became a part of their family, they embraced her as one of their own. Over the years, she developed a deep and lasting love for her many nieces and nephews, especially Ricky Meyers for his support throughout the years. Though Carroll and all his brothers and sisters have since passed away, Betty remained a treasured connection to the family they built together.

She was the strongest person we knew and the last one standing from the Borne clan.

She never forgot her first place she called home "Francis Place". That is where she raised her children with the love of her life, Carroll. She considered it to be the happiest place on earth. The friendships she formed there lasted throughout her life.

For many years, Betty called Karen Drive home. To the people who lived around her, she was much more than a neighbor—she was family.

Adults and children alike would stop by her home just to visit “Old Grannie” whether to give her a hug, sit and talk for a while, or take a little snack for the road. No matter how busy life became, there always seemed to be someone stopping by to check on her, share a story, or simply enjoy a few moments in her company. If they say it takes a village, Betty had the best village ever.

Betty leaves behind all who knew and loved her with a sense of loss that is difficult to put into words. Her absence will be deeply felt, especially by our large extended family and community that she so lovingly embraced.

Betty’s light will continue to shine through the love she gave so freely, the memories she created, and the lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of joy, selflessness, strength, devotion, and boundless love. She taught each of us family first, and one for all and all for one. The Borne’s and Holley’s are one family forever linked together.

Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we will carry her with us every single day—in our stories, in our laughter, in our traditions, and most of all, in our hearts.

Her love reached far beyond the walls of her home. It reached into the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Rest peacefully, Grannie. You are deeply loved and will be missed more than words can ever express.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 9:00AM - 11:00AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00AM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
