Carol Lucia Derbyshire

Carol Lucia Derbyshire passed away on Saturday, July 30 at the age of 76. She was the cherished wife of Robert Derbyshire for the past 56 years. She was a proud mother to her two daughters, Bridget Derbyshire and Debra Burnette (Jon). She was a loving MeMaw to her grandchildren Andrew Burnette and Hailey Sheldon (Adam) and her great granddaughter Zoë Sheldon. Carol is preceded in death by her parents Carlo Lucia Sr. and Dorothy Galle Lucia, her brother and sister-in-law Carlo Lucia Jr. and Catherine Piazza Lucia, and her infant son Brent Anthony Derbyshire. Carol was born and raised in New Orleans and graduated from F.T. Nicholls High School in 1964. She and Bob married in 1966 and eventually put down roots in St. Bernard and raised their family there. She had a kind and generous heart and a smile that lit up a room. She loved to laugh, and she did so often. Carol was also a devout Catholic and deeply devoted to her faith. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering on Saturday, August 6, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM followed by a memorial Mass at 12:00 PM.
