Catherine "Kay" Murr

Catherine “Kay” Murr passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the age of 90. Loving mother of F. George David (Nicky), Kimberly Reab (Ted), Terri Bunton (Chris), and Catherine Rinker. Proud Grandmother of Lionel Kinler, Jr., Adam Kinler, Tessie Kinler, Sarah Johnson, Michael Shane Dubose, Bobby Kieff, Raven Bunton, and Jessica Reab. Great-grandmother to eleven great-grandchildren, and Great-great-grandmother to two great-great-grandchildren. Daughter to the late John Tessitore and Ann Graffeo. Mother-in-law to the late Robert Rinker. Sister to five late siblings. Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Kay faithfully attended church at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Chalmette. She loyally waitressed at Royal Orleans for thirty years, and she was a member of the Council on Aging in Chalmette. She loved the beach, where the sound of the waves and the feel of the sand brought her a sense of peace and joy. Bingo nights, card games, and puzzle books were some of her favorite pastimes. These joys brought her comfort, but above all, she loved spending time with her adoring family.

Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Ms. Kay’s life on Friday, September 5, 2025, with a visitation from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA 70043, followed by a memorial mass at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
