Charles Douglas McDonald, Jr.

Charles Douglas McDonald, Jr., age 82, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015. He was a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans. Following Hurricane Katrina, Mr. McDonald resided in Willard, Missouri. He was the husband of the late Shirley Mae McDonald; father of Kim Getscher and Kathleen Burleton (Joseph) son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles McDonald Sr.; grandfather of Scott Getscher (Heidi), Mark Getscher (Leah), Wendy Allman (Daniel), Michael Getscher (Rebekah), Stephen Getscher (Carissa), and Ryan Trentacosta; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way. Mr. McDonald was a professional pianist who loved sharing his passion and talent for music with everyone. He has played every weekend at the Argentina Steakhouse in Springfield, Missouri, along with other events, both private and social. He truly enjoyed giving the joy of music to all. He could never bring himself to pass a piano without playing it. Mr. McDonald proudly served our country in the United States Army as Corporal. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Mr. McDonald will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
