Claire E. Duhy

Claire Egan Duhy passed away peacefully on the morning of March 11, 2026, at the age of 95. Claire was the loving and devoted wife of 71 years to her husband, Samuel Matthew Duhy. Beloved mother of Glenn (Sandy) Duhy and Gregory Duhy. Dedicated grandmother to Elizabeth (Earl) Leidinger, Catherine (Ricky) Kreps, Jennifer (PJ) Chutz, Michelle (Justin) Austin, and Glenn Duhy, Jr. Doting great-grandmother to Ethan Austin, Lily and Margot Leidinger, Rosalie and Rawlins Kreps, and Paislee and Preslee Chutz. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Sam, her parents, William and Beatrice Egan, along with her two sisters, Blanche and Joyce, and her grandson, Matthew Duhy. She is survived by many family and friends, including brothers, William (Nora) and Robert (Sue) Egan, along with daughter-in-law, Lisa (John) Duhy McLaughlin, and beloved caretaker, Minnie Ruiz. Claire was extremely wise and sharp until her last breath. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking family recipes, gardening, and being involved in her grandchildren‘s lives.

Services to be held for family and close friends at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA, on Thursday, March 19th, Visitation from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM. Claire will be greatly missed.
