Claude A. Stevens, Sr. passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, at the age of 75 and was surrounded by his loved ones. Claude was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, Vietnam Veteran, and friend to many. Claude was born in New Orleans on December 26, 1950 and later became a resident of Chalmette. After Hurricane Katrina, he moved to Metairie with his wife and daughter. Claude was the loving husband of Cathy Munn Stevens, father of Claude A. Stevens, Jr. (Pam), Elmer A. Stevens (Erin) and Cristin L. Stevens, brother of Kenny Stevens and Mary Anne Pigrenet, grandfather of Robert A. Stevens, Ariana Stevens, Laci Stevens, Elijah Stevens, Bella Stevens, Liam Stevens, Austin Peden, Zach Peden and Phoebe Robin, great-grandfather of Addisyn, Damien, and Julian, and loved by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Claude is preceded in death by his father Elmer A. Stevens, his mother Helen Leavell, his brother Frank A. Stevens, his son Kenny A. Stevens, his mother-in-law Leola Munn, and close friends Louie Galiano and George Rouse.
He was a member of D Troop 3rd of the 5th CAV in the Army and served 2 tours in Vietnam as a crew chief pilot and door gunner. Claude belonged to The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union #130. More than anything, his greatest joy in life was his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending all of their events; he lit up most when surrounded by their laughter and love. Claude enjoyed spending time with his family and friends barbecuing, watching football (Saints and LSU), building and running his RC cars, flying his drones and attending his Vietnam Veteran reunions. He loved drag racing and any and all history. Claude spent his time listening to the Beatles, Eric Clapton, and Nickelback (to the ire of Dr. Barr). Claude was a good storyteller.
