Edna “Nonnie” Hernandez O’Rourke, wife of the late Thomas “Bob” O’Rourke, Jr. passed peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2021 at the age of 92. Loving mother of one son Tommy O’Rourke; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Bobby Womack. Daughter of the late Bradley Hernandez Sr. and Blanche Rodriguez Hernandez. Sister of James “Buddy” Hernandez, Jane Puglia and Carroll Hernandez and the late Warren Hernandez, Douglas Hernandez, Bradley Hernandez Jr. and Hudson “Tee” Hernandez. Edna was born on May 25, 1928 in Toca, LA and was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. As a young girl, Edna enjoyed dancing at local dance halls. She spread joy, kindness and her love of music - everywhere she went.

After hurricane Katrina, she moved to the Dallas area to live with her daughter. She continued to enjoy jazz music and dancing. In her later life, she enjoyed winning at bingo and other activities on a regular basis. Edna enjoyed the simple things in life with her main passion being loving her family.

Tammy and Tommy,
So very sorry to hear of your loss. It is very difficult to lose a parent no matter how old they are when God calls them home. I remember your mom so well. She was always so friendly and personable. So easy to talk to - and boy she loved to talk. LOL She lit up a room with her smile and easy going way. She will be so happy to be near those of her relatives who have passed before her, especially your dad. God bless you both during this most difficult time.

Thank you for being my Mom. You made sure to raise us as loving children and to enjoy life to the fullest. You are no longer with us, but I will be speaking to you through prayer. I will not stop loving you because you are not with us anymore...you will always be in my prayers and in my heart. Your Son, Tommy.
