

Elizabeth “Betty” Rose Waguespack Chauvin passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the age of 88. She was the beloved wife of Elwood Joseph Chauvin, with whom she shared 60 devoted years of marriage. Loving mother of Denise Marie Chauvin Heigle and David Chauvin (Suyapa), Betty was also a proud and cherished grandmother to Joshua David Heigle and Gabriella Chauvin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Joseph Waguespack and Alice Murphy; her sister, Marcelline Elma Taylor; and her brother, Frederick Joseph Waguespack.
Betty dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker. Earlier in her life, she worked as a secretary for Blue Cross Blue Shield and BellSouth and was affiliated with Jackson Barracks. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, attending church, and making trips to the casino. She was a member of AARP and treasured time spent with her many senior friends.
Born and raised in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans, Betty later lived in St. Bernard Parish before making her home in Slidell. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a steady, caring presence in the lives of all who knew her. Her life was centered on her family, and she will be deeply missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 910 Cross Gates Blvd., Slidell, LA 70461. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell, LA.
