Elizabeth “Betty” Gabbey Lotz, age 88, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016. She was a native of Belfast, Ireland, coming to America as an eighteen year old War bride. She lived in Arabi for many decades.
Mrs. Lotz was the wife of the late Elroy C. Lotz; daughter of the late James and Margaret Geddis Gabbey; mother of Sherrilyn L. Phillips (wife of the late Thomas), Darline L. Scipione (Ron), and Eileen L. Daspit; grandmother of James Phillips, Christopher Phillips, Amber Phillips Martinez, Terence Scipione, Richard Scipione, Douglas Daspit, Damien Daspit, and Christina Daspit Johnson; sister of Margaret Willoz and the late Wesley Gabbey and Eleanore Koch; great-grandmother of 15.
Mrs. Lotz worked at South Central Bell Credit Union for over 30 years, starting as a file clerk and retiring as the credit manager. Her family was her world.
Services will be officiated by her grandson, Rev. Douglas Daspit.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm in the Chapel. Mrs. Lotz will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
