Elizabeth “Liz” Rose Scallan lost her hard fought battle with cancer on August 16, 2018. She was 67 years old. She was the beloved wife of Stanley J. Scallan. Loving mother of Ronnie R. Prestenbach (Angie Arnold), Nathin C. Scallan, the late Brenda Chatham Townsend, and the loving stepmother of Joey Prestenbach (Julie). Devoted grandmother of Tiffany Chatham, Chase Townsend, Ronnie R. Prestenbach, Jr., Caleb Prestenbach and Raelynn Rose Prestenbach. Great-grandmother of Ayvah Diaz and Hunter Johnson. She was the loving sister of James, Dennis, Leon, Tina and Don, Toni, and Peanut and Jay. She also leaves behind her life-long friend, Tracy Rouyer and her loving friend, Kathy Robin.
Liz was born in New Orleans on May 16, 1951. She had the spirit of an entrepreneur, and took great joy in running “Liz Qc’s” and “Liz’s Place,” in addition to other businesses in The Parish over the years. The last ten years of her life were spent at Nunez Community College, where she was a purchasing agent, and had the privilege of working with many wonderful people. Liz was loved by all who knew her, and will forever be missed by her family and friends.
A gathering of friends and family will take place in Liz’s honor on Saturday, August 25, 2018, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. VIRTUE STREET, in Chalmette. She will be laid to rest in St. Patrick Cemetery, at a later date.
