Ella Goschen Cassagne

Ella Goschen Cassagne passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2002 at the age of 77. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life. She was the cherished wife of the late John M. Cassagne Jr “Bubba John”. Loving mother of John M. Cassagne III (Rhonda), Teri Cassagne Pohlmann (Jeff) and the late Kevin Martin Cassagne. Proud grandmother of Jamie P. Reyes (Justin), Mandy P. Reis, John M. Cassagne IV (Chantelle) and Jeffrey K. Pohlmann Jr. Great grandmother of Noelle Toups, Justin Reyes, Lola Reyes, Gabrielle Reis and Bryson Guidry. Daughter of the late Oliver Goschen and Helen Ahrens Goschen Epperson. Sister of the late Theodore P. Goschen. She is also survived and fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Ella was born in New Orleans, LA, grew up in the 9th Ward and became a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. She truly enjoyed life through her simple pleasures of sewing, crocheting and endless hours researching her genealogy. She enjoyed using and discovering new technologies with her computer, cell phone and Netflix. She worked for an auto parts warehouse, a LA state liquor distributor and later became co-owner of the famous Bubba John’s Steak and Seafood restaurant. She will always be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to her family, her caring and loving spirit and her laughter. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, July 23rd from 10:00AM – 11:00AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Ella Marie’s memory beginning at 11:00AM. She will be laid to eternal rest with her beloved husband in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
