On October 30, 2025 Emile Norbert Dembrun earned his angel wings and is up in Heaven with Jesus our Lord. Emile was the son of the late Louis and Edna Dembrun; brother of the late Louis, Joseph and Dorothy. He was a great, loving, caring and devoted husband to his wife Cookie for 70 years. He is the father of Larry (the late Mickie), Ricky (Karen), Cindy (Jay), and the late Emile Norbert Dembrun Jr. He was always proud of his wife and children. Loved to be called “Paups” by his grandchildren, Debbie (Scott), Larry Jr., Danny (Jessica), Rick, Rachel (Nick), Mark Jr. (Jenna), Louis and the late Marcel Theriot. Then came along his great grandchildren, Makayla, Colton, the late Taylor Dembrun, Aubrey, Julia, Jacob Emile, Vivienne, Joslyn, Mark III and Jayden.
Emile was a proud graduate of Frances T. Nicholls High School, Class of 1954, and enjoyed a fulfilling 29-year career as a Building Inspector for St. Bernard Parish. He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Paups was known for his profound love of his family, friends and his community. He could often be found cheering on his children and grandchildren at their ball games, or going out dancing with his beloved wife, Cookie. No gathering was complete without Paups - he welcomed everyone with open arms, whether they were family, friends, or even strangers.
His faith was the foundation of his life, and every Sunday morning, he could be found at Mass at Our Lady of Prompt Succor, followed by a trip to enjoy his favorite hot donuts. Emile’s deep devotion to Jesus was matched only by his love for those around him. His loyalty to his family, his caring spirit and his laughter will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He had a special gift for making everyone feel special, especially his grandchildren that he spoiled with love and affection.
Paups was our pillar of strength, courage and compassion. He taught us all the true meaning of selflessness, always putting the needs of others before his own. His examples of kindness, faith, and family will live on in the memories he created and the lives he touched. Though we will miss him dearly, we take comfort in knowing that the love and joy he shared will remain with us always. Rest in peace, dear Paups. You will forever be in our hearts.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR CHURCH, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, November 15th from 10:00AM – 12:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 12:00PM. He will be laid to eternal rest in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery No. 1 in New Orleans.
