Emile Edwin Goettz Jr.

Emile is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years Joan Gerosa Goettz. He is the loving father of 3 children, Karen Goettz Rome (Erwin), Lawrence Emile Goettz (Regina), and Steven Anthony Goettz (Julie “Juliette”. He leaves behind 7 Grandchildren Kimberly Rome Plumbar, Kaylyn Rome Wolfe "Schnickelfritz"(Joshua), Lawrence Emile Goettz, Jr (Christine), Michael Joseph Goettz, Emmanuel Edwin Goettz (Gabby), Douglas Raymond Hernandez, IV (Erica), Brent Joseph Hernandez "Brad"(Amanda). Great Grand Children Brelyn, Amaya, Kaliyah, Jordyn, Kaiden "Honey Head", Emilia, Lexie, Landyn, Tyson, Liam, Carter, Selena, Kaleb, Brantley, Brent Jr "Lil Brad", Bryce, Luke, Isabella. Great Great Grand Children Melanni and Dazarilyn. He is preceded in death by his father Emile Edwin Goettz, Sr., his mother Antoinette Compagna Goettz and 4 sisters Catherine Goettz, Marion Graham, Marylou Smith, Catherine Breaux and Great Grandson Stephan Hernandez.

Emile served in the US Navy from 1952-1954. He worked for ADT for 10 Years. He served on the New Orleans Police Department as a motorcycle officer until his retirement as a Sergeant of the 5th District from 1965-1985. Emile enjoyed spending time with family and friends and carrying on family traditions. He also enjoyed bowling, karaoke, fishing, and cooking. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Policy (FOP) where he served on the cooking committee and served as a Chaplain, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge in St. Bernard and Slidell. He was active in his church as an usher at Prince of Peace Church in St. Bernard and St. John of the Cross Church in Lacombe.

Emile will be greatly missed by family including nieces and nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 10:00 AM- 1:00 PM.
