

Emile is survived by his three daughters, Wendy O’Neil (Shawn), Dana Usner and Amanda Ratcliff (Danny); his three grandchildren whom he absolutely adored Emily, Shawn, Jr. and Calvin; and his brothers and sisters, Dennis Usner (Elizabeth), Charmaine Scortino and Bryan Usner (Lisa), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Emile was born in New Orleans, LA, to the late Shirley Mae Boudreaux and the late Emile Peter Usner, Jr. on February 13, 1950. He was a 1968 graduate of Chalmette High School and earned his Associates degree from Delgado Community College in 1970. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Diane Lynn Varuso Usner, whom he was married to for 45 years. He retired several years ago after a long and successful career as an electrician at Avondale Shipyard. After retirement he worked for many years at AutoZone. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and working on cars in his spare time.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2320 Paris Road, in Chalmette, from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM. A mass will be held in Emile’s memory at 12:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, in New Orleans.
