

Estelle Jennet Davis Jackson, died at home peacefully on August 15, 2015 at the age of 100 years in Birmingham, Alabama. Estelle was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on October 29, 1914. Preceded in death by her parents, Caswallon Davis of Ferndale, Wales, a Welsh coal miner, and American Jennet Jones Davis of Summerville, California and her siblings, Edwin, Walter, Sadie Lindholm, Delphos, Frances Ray, and Juanita (Babe) Hefner. Also preceded in death by her husband, James Raymond Jackson, and two step sons, James Jackson, Jr. and Gary Jackson. Surviving are two daughters, Sylvia Jackson Walker and Joyce Jackson Sievers of Birmingham, AL and one son, Jay Jackson of Westwego, LA. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Reginald Walker, Jr, Tammy Sievers Watson, Michelle Walker Lewis, Herbert Sievers, Jr., Jodie Sievers Georgusis, Jay Jackson, Jr., Erica Jackson Stephens and John Rosser. Also sons-in-law, Reginald Walker, Sr., Herbert Sievers, Sr. and daughter-in-law Barbara Jackson. She was grandma and granny to 16 great grandchildren, Michael Salvador, Sebastian Walker, Alexander Walker, Nathalie Salvador, Josue' Walker Vazquez, Josh Lewis, Amber Watson, Dylan Miller, Dakota Sievers, Anders Georgusis, Aiden Georgusis, Avery Georgusis, Savanna Jackson, Leah, Cambrie Jackson and Auberon Stephens. Estelle is also survived by several nieces and nephews Janice Kirkwood of California, Jerry Ray, Fred Ray, Sandy Mcleod, Carol Burnett, and Kurt Hefner, all of Washington. Estelle was raised in Seattle, Washington by her dad and older sister Sadie until she met her husband, James Raymond Jackson. Estelle was a beautician in Seattle and then changed her occupation to a sewing machine operator at a Seattle bag factory. This is where she met Jimmie, a foreman for sewing machine mechanics. In Port Townsend, Washington, she gave birth to two girls; Sylvia Gail in 1948 and Joyce Diane in 1950. In 1953, her husband was transferred to Houston Texas for a year and then to New Orleans, Louisiana where she gave birth to a son, Jay Raymond in 1955. She raised her children in New Orleans, Louisiana. She became a widow in 1978 and moved to Chalmette, Louisiana to be near her daughter, Joyce. Then Hurricane Katrina blew her to Birmingham, Alabama to live with her daughter, Sylvia in August, 2005. In November 2014 she celebrated her 100th birthday in Mississippi. Family came from in Washington, Louisiana, Alabama and Puerto Rico to celebrate with her. In warm weather, she loves putting her feet in the swimming pool, sitting on the swing in the back yard. Estelle is pretty quiet, but loves being around family. Last but not least, she loves her game shows. Her family was her "everything" and her sense of humor was her most remarkable quality. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. A funeral service will begin at 8:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
