Ethel Mae Cecile Rano

Ethel Mae “Tookie” Serpas Rano passed away on August 4, 2018. She was 93 years old. She was the devoted wife of Domingo Rano for 76 years. Loving mother of Jeanette Rano Gray and Bernadine Rano Cappo (Andrew, Jr.). Grandmother of Wayne Gray, Sr. (Michelle), Donna Calato (Michael), Andrew Cappo, III and the late Christopher Gray. Greatgrandmother of Wayne Gray, Jr., Brandi Russell (Farrest), Austin Gray, Darius Tortorich (Paige), Lindsey Tortorich and Hunter Tortorich. Great-greatgrandmother of Lucas Tortorich and Tanner Caples. She was the Godmother of Malcolm Assevado, Terry “Corkey” Robin, Mark Robin and Mary Ann Winn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecile Ritter Serpas and Malcolm Serpas, and by her sisters, Irene Hasik, Patricia Assevado and Marietta Serpas.

Tookie was a lively lady who will be fondly remembered for her love of dancing, weekly Po-ke-no games, and frequent visits to the casino. She loved her family and will be deeply missed by us all.

A visitation for Tookie will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. VIRTUE STREET, in Chalmette from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, with a Memorial Mass in her honor at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
