Evelyn N. Brooks

Evelyn Nunez Brooks passed away on February 19, 2022 at the age of 94. She was born in St. Bernard Parish on October 7, 1927 to August and Mae Nunez. Evelyn was the loving mother of Ellen B. Kraus (Frank). Proud grandmother of Frank “Jay” Kraus (Cindy), Karen G. Kraus, Kimberly K. Peters (Michael) and Erica Kraus (Jeff); great grandmother of Matthieu, Christopher, Amanda, Sam, Kathren, Angelo, Eli, Joshua, Derek, Mikaela and Luke; great-great grandmother of Jayden and Elizabeth. Caring sister of Elsie Smith and Allen Nunez (Janet). She is preceded in death by her husbands, Conway G. Brooks and Benward Treadaway; her parents, August Nunez and Mae D. Nunez; her siblings, Alfred Nunez, August Nunez, Augustine Cantrell, Clifton Nunez, Esther Gonzales and Gerald Nunez.

Evelyn started her owned business in 1978 called Brooks Income Tax Service. Her greatest joy was spending time with family. She also enjoyed bowling, dancing and going to the casino. She will be forever remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She loved and treasured her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, Feb.24, 2022 from 9:00AM- 11:00AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00AM. Burial will follow in ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL GARDENS.
