Frances Huelly Michel, age 89, passed away peacefully. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories. She is survived by her children, Al Michel (Chris) and Melody Mattolini; her grandchildren, Chantel Hebert (Jason), Danielle Gentry (Josiah), Paul Smith, Mandy Martin (Erick), Megan Ousset, Maci Ousset, and Chiara Mattolini; and her great-grandchildren, Jackson, Emilia, Autumn, Marshall, Aubrie, Elysia, Isabella, Alyvia, Clark, Smith, and Laurel. Frances was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Melinda Ousset (the late Matthew); her parents, George and Louise Huelly; and her sisters, Audrey Arcenaux (the late Pete), Shirley Jacobs (the late Norman), and Kathleen Barrett (the late Tunney).
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Frances held a deep and abiding love for her Catholic faith. Her early years were shaped by the close-knit community of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where she built lifelong friendships and a foundation of spiritual strength. In her later years, she became a treasured member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, where her faith remained a steady guiding light. Frances found joy in life’s simple pleasures—curling up with a good book, celebrating parades as a proud member of the Krewe of Amor, and listening to the timeless music of Elvis, whom she adored. Her family will always remember the warmth and comfort of her delicious red gravy, a meal that brought everyone together. Above all, Frances’s greatest pride and joy was her family. Her love was fierce and unwavering—a love that will live on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
