Glenn Girod Landry

Glenn Girod Landry entered eternal rest peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the age of 73. Born in New Orleans, Glenn was a lifelong resident of Meraux, Louisiana. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Glenn is survived by his beloved family: his devoted wife of 52 years, Dolores Baker Landry; his daughter, Holly Landry; and his sons, Brad and Beau (Erica). He was the proud grandfather of Taylor Boyd (Mason), Abby, Leah, and Zachary, who brought him tremendous joy and were truly the light of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Lois Saunier; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Landry and Cynthia Keeling; brother-in-law, Rudy Baker (Sheila); nephews, Troy Landry (Elaine), Michael Mills (Grace), and John Saunier; and nieces, Krista Mannion (Michael), Melanie Broussard (Ted), Noelle DesOrmeaux (Eddie), and Yvonne Willis; great nephews and nieces, Michael, Lane, Matthew, Briella, Ellie, Gianni, MacKenzie along with many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Lenies and Leona (Schaubhut) Landry; his brothers, Tracy Landry and Kermit Landry; and his nephew, Todd Landry. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Rudolph Baker, Doris Reggio Baker, Raynette Baker, Clifford Saunier, and Donna Rita Landry.

Glenn retired from Murphy Oil/Valero Refinery after many years of dedicated service. He also proudly served the residents of St. Bernard Parish as Ward I Constable and Justice of the Peace for 37+ years. In that role, Glenn enjoyed helping neighbors resolve disputes peacefully, presiding over small claims court, and officiating countless weddings throughout the parish. Serving his community was something he truly cherished.

Glenn was a true jack-of-all-trades. There wasn’t much he couldn’t build, fix, or figure out. He took great pride in teaching his children many of those same skills, making sure they would always know how to take care of themselves and never be afraid to tackle a challenge. His greatest joy in life, however, was his grandchildren. He treasured every moment spent with them, sharing stories, laughter, and life lessons. He was immensely proud of each of them, and they will always carry his love and wisdom with them.

Glenn often shared a lesson his father once taught him and his brother, Tracy, about the meaning of true friendship. Their father asked them how many friends they had, and they both named many. He then asked whether all of those friends would drop everything at a moment’s notice to help them with anything and whether they would do the same for those friends. The ones they could name who would do that, their father explained, were their true friends; the rest were acquaintances. That lesson stayed with Glenn throughout his life, and it reflected the kind of friend he was to others: loyal, dependable, generous, and always willing to help.

The family would like to express their enormous gratitude to the many friends and family members who helped Glenn and his family so much during the past several years of his life. The family also wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to St. Bernard EMS, Clements Physical Therapy, Southeast Louisiana Home Health staff, the Guardian Angel Hospice team, and Cindy Gonzales, all of whom showed Glenn compassion, kindness, and care.

Rest in peace, Pops. You will be forever in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Glenn’s memory to the Parkinson's Foundation.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:00 AM- 11:00 AM. A mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL GARDENS.
