

Gloria Ballard Cantrell died peacefully at home in Chalmette on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at the age of 79. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life. She was born in Mobile, AL to Morgan and Yvonne Ballard. She graduated from Academy of Holy Angels and worked for years at Lockheed Martin in New Orleans, LA. She was proceeded in death by husband, Edwin J. Cantrell Sr. She is survived by her children Lori Cantrell, Edwin “Bubby” Cantrell Jr., Jolie Cantrell Clack (David) and Annie Cantrell (Force). Sister of Judy Triche (Earl) and Morgan “Bim” Ballard. Proud grandmother of Katie, Jennie, Missy, Jason, Aiden and Riot and 9 great-great grandchildren. Beloved “Nan” of Jennifer Triche. Special thanks to her caregiver & companion Tonya and sister-in-law Darlene.
Gloria was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish where she was a devout Catholic. She truly enjoyed life through her simple pleasures of gardening, traveling, her pets and crossword puzzles. But her greatest love was spending time with her family and lifelong friends. Gloria will always be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to her Lord and her family, her caring and loving spirit, her lively character and spoiling the grandchildren. She was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others and will be deeply missed by us all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, December 2nd from 8:30AM – 10:30AM, followed by a Memorial Mass in Gloria’s memory beginning at 10:30AM. She will be laid to eternal rest in a private ceremony at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
