

Gwendolyn “Memaire” Argeanton Mancuso passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Wendi Mancuso; her husband John Ray Mancuso Sr.; her parents Genevieve “Dolores” Boudreaux & Wilfred John Argeanton Sr; her step-father Rene Emile Boudreaux; her son Joseph Louis Mancuso; her grandchild Justin Rene Mancuso; her great-grandchild Jaclyn Alexis Mancuso; and her siblings Wilfred John Argeanton Jr. and Rosemary “Sam” Boudreaux Trumbatari.
Gwendolyn is survived by her beloved children Jennifer Mancuso Johnson (Richard Johnson), John Ray Mancuso Jr. (Ellen Mancuso), Jeffrey Paul Mancuso Sr. Proud grandmother of John Ray Mancuso III (Janelle Mancuso), JoEllen Rae Mancuso (Antonio Green), Jeffrey Paul Mancuso Jr., Genevieve Marie Johnson and Jennifer Anslem Bright (Ryan Bright). Great grandmother of Jasmyn Mancuso, Jase Mancuso, Eli O’Hara, Elan O’Hara, Antonia Green, Antonio Green Jr., Ava Mancuso and Jayden Cortes. Sister of Rene Boudreaux Zimmer (Don Zimmer) and Jeanne Boudreaux Bertrand (Wayne Bertrand). She is also survived and fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Gwendolyn was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. She grew up with a passion for hospitality. This love for people and making them feel at home led her to a long career as a hotel manager. However, her true joy came from her family. She was the adoring and doting grandmother, each one holding a special place in her heart. She took great pleasure in spoiling them with love, affection, and countless cherished memories. In her leisure time, Gwendolyn was an avid enthusiast of needlework, showcasing her creativity and talent through intricate patterns and beautiful designs. Her skilled hands wove masterpieces that will certainly be passed down through generations. When not pursuing her needlework, Gwendolyn was an avid reader and recently found delight in embracing the modern era of entertainment, becoming an expert at binge-watching her favorite Netflix series. It was a source of amusement for her family to see her fully immersed in the latest shows, relishing the escape into fictional worlds and sharing laughter over shared interests.
Her warm and compassionate nature touched everyone she encountered. Her home was a safe haven where all felt welcome, and her heart was open to listen and offer support to those in need. She exemplified the true essence of kindness, empathy, and selflessness. Gwendolyn leaves behind a legacy of love, hospitality, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family. Rest in peace, dear Gwendolyn. May your soul find eternal peace and serenity as you continue your journey in the heavens above.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, August 5th from 8:00AM – 11:00AM, followed by a funeral service in her memory beginning at 11:00AM. She will be laid to eternal rest in St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery in New Orleans, LA.
