

Helen Theresa Schmidt Fabre, 89, was born on January 3, 1927 in New Orleans, LA. She passed away peacefully on January 5, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond James Fabre, Sr. Loving mother of Wanda Zeringue (Joseph) and Raymond Fabre, Jr. (Darlene). Sister of Emile Schmidt. Grandmother of Lisa Eyster (Mark), Jeffrey Zeringue (Cristine), Brian Fabre (Carrie), Danielle Aime (Nathan) and Russell Fabre. Great Grandmother of Amanda & Alexis LaHoste, Madison Zeringue and Camden, Ashlen & Aiden Fabre. Great-Great Grandmother of Milania Kok. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry & Laura Schmidt; her siblings Alvin, Irvin Sr., Lawrence Schmidt, Courtney Estopinal; and her dear great-grandchild Molly Zeringue. After working over 40 years as an accountant, she retired from the Louisiana Department of Health. She was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of Chalmette prior to moving to Pearl River in 2005. She was a member of the Jubilees, AARP Chapters in St. Bernard & Madisonville, and The Widowers Group of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Pearl River. Helen taught us that faith, hope and love can do amazing things. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by her family and by all those whose lives she touched. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, January 9th, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 66192 St. Mary Dr., Pearl River, LA from 9AM to 11AM followed by a Funeral Mass. Burial will be held immediately after Mass at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens in Chalmette.
