

Ignatius “Bubby” Anthony Basile, Jr., born at French Hospital on March 11, 1947, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on October 8, 2022, at 3:43 p.m. at the age of 75 years young. He was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Tremé section in the area of Ursuline and Governor Nicholls St. He was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for over 50 years.
Bubby is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 46 years, Beth Hattier Basile, after meeting on a blind date; his sisters, Cathy Basile Schmid and Bonnie Basile Bradbury (Larry); his sons, Ignatius A. Basile, III (Rose), George A. Basile (Helena), Stephen J. Basile (Danielle) and Christopher T. Basile; five grandchildren, Abigail and Jacob Basile, Antonio Regnier, Crista and Davin Basile; three great-grandchildren, Antonio, Dexter and Kaizer Regnier. He also leaves behind to mourn his passing his sister-in-laws, Annette Hattier Centorbi and Renee M Hattier; family friends, Michele Regnier and Christine Adams and her sister, Cindy and husband, Frank Adams; close personal friend, Andrew Franichevich (A.K.A. Vince Vance), and his brother, Matthew and Martin Mustacchia; and many many other friends and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bubby is predeceased in death by his parents, Antionette Palentina Basile and Ignatius Basile, his sister, Jacklyn Basile, his brother-in-laws, Larry Centorbi and Karl Schmid, his mother-in-law, Yvonne Howorka Hattier, his father-in-law, Jules John Hattier, his niece, Kylene Hattier, and his childhood friend, Melvin Blakeway.
Bubby was educated In New Orleans, especially skillful in math and spelling, at St. Augustine Grammar, Kohn Junior High and was especially proud of his attendance at F.T. Nicholls High School, Class of 1969. Bubby’s employment was with Chase Bag Co, Morning Call (French Quarter), St. Bernard Parish School Board as well as St. Bernard Parish Government. He enjoyed crossword and search word puzzles, watching and attending wrestling events and loved watching sports. Bubby was a faithful and avid Tulane Green Wave Baseball Fan. He also loved to make everyone laugh. Bubby will forever be loved by his wife, Beth and missed by everyone else who’s life he touched.
Family and Friends are invited to attend the visitation from 10:30AM to 12:30PM at St. Bernard Memorial Garden Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St. a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA at 1:00PM. He will be laid to rest at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
