Imogene Buker Chelette

Mrs. Imogene Buker Chelette passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020. She was 93 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late Leon W. Chelette. Loving mother of Barbara C. Baudot (Jerry), Lloyd W. Chelette (Barb), William J. Chelette (Theresa), and James P. Chelette (Lorene). She was the daughter of the late Alpha Buker and the late Bessie Mae Buker. Grandmother of Tami Keehn (Glen), Christine Levee (Joshua), Melissa Zigler (Jeffery), Dawn Encalade (Chad), Patrick Chelette, Jenna Chelette (Max), and Jesse Ard. Great-grandmother of Brittany, Gavin, Jude, Jordan, Ethan, Emily, Ella, Evan, Jonah, Micah, Brady, and Brittany Ard, and great-great grandmother of five. She was the sister of Alice Lebouef, and of the late Billy Buker. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Imogene was born in Dothan, Alabama, and was a resident of Chalmette until Hurricane Katrina.

Imogene was the secretary of Trist Middle School for 20 years. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Arabi, of Chalmette Baptist Church, and a current member of Goodyear Baptist Church. She had a kind heart, and was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She will be forever loved and missed by all those who knew her.

Imogene will be laid to rest during a graveside service in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
