

James Laconner Hallock passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at the age of 79. He was the beloved husband for over 30 wonderful years to Mildred Artigue Hallock. Loving father of Jimmy Lee Hallock. Devoted step-father of Anthony Prejean, Bonnie Hinkel, Rodney Prejean and the late Tommy Prejean. Brother of Barbara Hallock (Charles). Uncle of Bonnie Jarrell and Elaine DeLeon. Son of the late Henry Baham and Frances LaLanne Baham. He is also survived and fondly remembered by 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, along with many relatives, cousins and dear friends.
James was born in New Orleans, LA and spent much of his life as a resident of St. Bernard Parish. He dedicated his career to the water, working for many years as a skilled and respected Boat Captain. He lived life with a heartfelt appreciation for its simple joys. He found happiness in casting a fishing line, sharing a good game of cards, and gathering around the table for a great meal with family and friends. His days were filled with meaningful connections and he had a gift for finding beauty in the little things. He was also a man of deep Christian faith and loved his Lord & Savior Jesus. Above all, James will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his faith, his generous and compassionate heart and the joy he brought to those around him. He was a true example of kindness, loyalty and love. Rest in peace, James. Your memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved you. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, June 28th from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a celebration of James’ life beginning at 1:00PM.
