James "Jimmy" Tracy Manint

Born on February 2, 1962, in Pomona, California, Jimmy was the son of James Stanford Manint and Shirley Anne Manint. He was raised by his loving parents in New Orleans, Louisiana, alongside his brother and sister.

Straight out of high school, he went right to work, eventually building a career as a crane operator for CBS Outdoor. He also loved pulling floats for parades during Mardi Gras season. The fun, carefree, and celebratory spirit of Mardi Gras was a true reflection of his own vibrant, "good-time" personality. When he wasn’t working, Jimmy loved hitting the lanes with his bowling league, always ready for a good time and some laughs.

A natural ladies' man, Jimmy's world truly centered around his family. By 1995, he had two daughters who became the absolute definition of "Daddy's Girls." He made sure their childhood was unforgettable, constantly making memories and spoiling them with shopping, visits to Six Flags and the swim club, camping trips to Little Black Creek, and beach vacations. Later in life, he welcomed his beloved dog, Chanel, who was his constant companion. Together, they spent countless hours watching reruns of M*A*S*H, Hogan's Heroes, and Gilligan's Island—at least until football season rolled around. His favorite time of year was when he could passionately and sometimes angrily cheer on the New Orleans Saints with a cold beer always in hand.

In 2014, Jimmy stepped into a new role as "Paw Paw." He embraced the title fully, delighting in spoiling his grandchildren with sweet treats and the loudest, most obnoxious toys he could find, purely to laugh at how annoyed his daughters would get. Jimmy loved nothing more than to joke and laugh, even at the most inappropriate times. He will be deeply missed for his quick humor, his generous spirit, and the fierce love he had for his family.

Jimmy is survived by his daughters, Tracy Amacker and her husband Michael Amacker Sr., and Lacey Manzella and her husband Alex Manzella; his cherished grandchildren, JacyAnne, Dean, Berkley, Iyla & MJ; his niece Gabrielle R. Petruska; his brother, Eddie Manint; his sister, Tina Haynes and his aunt, Martha Ellis and her husband Marvin. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Stanford and Shirley Anne Manint.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA 70043 on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 PM in the Chapel.
