JoAnn Najolia

JoAnn “Gracie” Najolia peacefully spread her wings on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the young age of 69. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Huey Magee; her parents, Joseph & Rose Perino Najolia; her aunts and uncles, Anna Abadie, Dominick Najolia, Caroline Mistrot (Godmother), Hazel DiLorenzo; and her cousins, Lynn Ann Evans & Robert Najolia. She is survived and fondly remembered by her aunt Rita Munster, uncle Robert Najolia; her cousins C.J. Abadie, Richard Najolia, Ronald Mistrot, Edward Munster, Cynthia Munster, Janis Eck, Kenneth Najolia, Philip Perino, Carol Cheshire; along with many dear cousins and close friends. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish, currently residing in Slidell, LA. She was a longtime member of the Rachel Jackson #241 Order of the Eastern Star; St. Bernard Art Guild and Retired Teachers Association. She cherished time spent with her family and friends, and loved her trips to Hollywood Casino with her dearest friend, Joan. She was well loved and will be forever remembered for her kindness, generosity, and good times with endless laughter. She inspired her students, and was an example of what it means to live life to the fullest. She was the life of our party - her loving spirit will live on in each of us, in JoAnn’s own special way. A very special Thank You to her dear and devoted friends, Lawrence Keith “Elvis” Alexander and Joan Alexander; the doctors, nurses and staff at SMH Regional Cancer Center and Passages Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend an evening visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, May 11th from 6:00PM – 10:00PM and on Thursday morning from 9:00AM – 11:00AM. A Funeral Mass will be held in JoAnn’s memory beginning at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
