Joe Muscarello passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the age of 89. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched in some way throughout his very memorable life. He was the beloved husband of 68 years to Mabel Thibodeaux Muscarello. Loving father of Belinda M. Mayeaux (John), Joseph Muscarello and Randy Muscarello Sr. (Bonnie). Proud grandfather of Cherie Mayeaux (Jim), Chaney Mayeaux, Randy Muscarello Jr. (Nicole), Joshua Muscarello (Michelle), Jonah Muscarello and Isaac Muscarello. Great grandfather of Donavan Muscarello, Alexis Muscarello, Allie Muscarello, Olivia Muscarello and Emilia Muscarello. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many relatives, cousins and dear friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Nick Muscarello & Rosey Tortorich Muscarello, his siblings Mike Muscarello & Nicki M. Lacour, his step-father Pete Miglorie and his dear grandchild Jamin Muscarello.
Joe was born in Independence, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. As a young man Joe enjoy working with a travelling street fair and later retired after many years with Kaiser Aluminum. Following his retirement, Joe kept busy as a tow truck driver, earning his nickname as “Wrecker Joe”. He truly enjoyed life through his many hobbies and simple pleasures of playing cards with his friends & family and cheering for his favorite football teams on the weekend. His love for showing off his one handed trick shots as a pool shark was surpassed only by the love for his grandchildren. Joe will always be remembered for his loyalty and dedication to his family & friends. He was well loved and affectionately known for his good nature and generous heart. He will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, who treasured his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, July 31st from 9:00AM – 11:00AM, followed by a funeral service in Joe’s memory beginning at 11:00AM. He will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
