Joyce Lotz Butler

Joyce Lotz Butler, age 89 years, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2016. Beloved wife of the late J. Kenneth Butler. Loving mother of John K. Butler, Jr. (Kathy) and the late Ann B. Rooney. Mother-in-law of Daniel Rooney. Sister of Forrest “Poochie” Lotz, Jr. (Barbara). Grandmother of Christopher Butler (Laura), Sandra Tassin (Perry), Alison Rooney Mitchell (Otis), Erin Rooney (Paul Andersen), and Brandi Sutter (Harry). Great grandmother of Amber, Kayla, Jade, Alex, Cole, Wade, and Cameron. A native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Arabi, LA, Mrs. Butler was a retired school teacher at St. John Vianney Catholic School in Arabi, LA and also a retiree from D.H. Holmes in New Orleans East. Joyce was a loving wife, mother and a loving and dedicated grandmother and great grandmother. She was a very proud Catholic and lived her faith through her unconditional giving. She will be deeply loved and missed by her family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
