My sincere condolences to Laurie's family. I was shocked to hear about Laurie's passing! It hit me pretty hard. I worked many years with Laurie while at River Consulting and we became close friends. Always cheerful, funny. and a wonderful co-worker and more importantly, friend. I remember the day we got Laurie in one of the conference rooms at work under some pretense, and how surprised and thrilled she was when her daughter Christy walked through the door on leave from the military! That was a very good day! I have not seen Laurie in over 12+ years, but my memory of her will remain with me always. Laurie was one of those rare souls who we are fortunate to know in life. May she rest in peace.

Shocked is the right description for me.
Remembering the first time I met Laurie she had me crying over rescuing her elderly parents moving them out of harm’s way. Moving them out of Louisiana from Hurricane Katrina … She was the leader and kept the family intact until she could get back and find a place to stay after Katrina devastated the landscape. The detail of her monumental task rescuing her father and mother was overwhelmingly difficult at their age, getting prescriptions, feeding everyone, working through the mess of all the misplaced people and supervising the move to high safe ground. She survived.
Leadership is in the genetics. Laurie’s great kids returned the favor not long ago . Family rescued Laurie from the rising flood water in 2016. Took them all day to get to her. I will never forget. Family was shown rescuing her on TV with her companion dog in a boat they rounded up from somewhere. I look up that night and I see her on television. Shocked. But there the family was rescuing her. Saw her from Tulsa , Oklahoma TV news.
Laurie Barrow picked her feet up after that event and like every event before got her house back together, surroundings and family went right back to work. Laurie was a tuff cookie at work and hard worker. I can only imagine how great a mama she was. I will always have a hole in my heart for Laurie. AKA “MVP”
With the greatest respect for her loving “Hero” family. May god bless you.
