Leola Castillon Munn

Leola Castillon Munn passed away peacefully on December 31st at the age of 86. Leola was born in New Orleans on April 29, 1939, and later became a resident of Chalmette. After Hurricane Katrina, she moved to Metairie with her daughter, Cathy. She was the loving mother of David Winnfield Munn, Jr. (Claudia), Ricky Arthur Munn (Shelly), Cathy Munn Stevens (Claude), Cheryl Munn Farhat (David), grandmother of Rachel Munn (George), Shannon Munn Guillotte (Tim), Stephanie Munn Kreilow (Mitch), Cristin Stevens, Tiffany Munn, Ricky Munn, Jr., Emily Farhat Almacddissi (Jimmy), Jessica Farhat, Davey Farhat, Brendan Farhat, T.J. Munn (Devin), Steven Munn (Robin), Claude Stevens, Jr. (Pam), and Elmer Stevens (Erin). Leola is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, her sisters Diane Castillon Thompson (T.K.) and Debbie Castillon Galiano (Sam) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and her dear friend Audrey Buras. Leola is preceded in death by her mother Olivia Marks Castillon and father Leon Simon Castillon, her brothers Leon Castillon, Arthur Castillon and George Castillon, and her grandson Kenny Stevens.

Leola worked for Pan American Life Insurance Company. She was a member of the Miley Group in Metairie and belonged to St. Mary Magdalen Church. She will always be remembered for her famous fried chicken, love of gardening, antique shopping, embroidery, Hallmark movies and spending time with her family.

The family would like to thank Visiting Angels, Passages Hospice, and her longtime caregivers Charlotte Piper and Shelly Domanque, for their love and care. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 9:00 AM- 11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL GARDENS.
