Linda Hickman Knight

Linda Hickman Knight passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026 at the age of 73. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life. She was the beloved mother of Patti Knight, Jamie Knight, Frank Noel Knight Jr., Joshua Knight (Carol) and Jason Knight. Daughter of the late Pat Hickman and Jerelda Wallace Douglas. Sister of Pamula Mentel (Adrian), Jeanette Budenich and the late Joann Douglas, Joyce Harper, Eddie Hickman and Ronald Douglas. Sister-in-law of Terry Landrum and the late Raymond Budenich. Proud grandmother of Karin (Zacharies), Rosie, Leah, Allison, Jeremiah, James, Aubrie, Brynn and the late Frankie and Fendi. Great grandmother of Liam, Delilah and Magnolia “Maggie”. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Linda was born in Kermit, TX and was a longtime resident of Chalmette. She was a graduate of John Jay Cosmetology School and took great pride in her career as a hairdresser. She was employed at Hair Den, where she enjoyed getting to know her clients by name and the stories they shared. Linda had a special gift for making people feel beautiful and cared for and formed so many lasting friendships throughout her years behind the chair.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and, most of all, in the people she loved. She treasured spending time with her grandchildren and creating special memories with them. She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, cooking and keeping her home clean and welcoming for everyone.

She had a true love for gardening and her plants, taking great pleasure in watching them grow and flourish. Music was also an important part of her life, especially religious and country music. Her faith was close to her heart and she found comfort and strength in reading her Bible.

Linda will be remembered for her warm heart, caring spirit, love of family and the kindness she shared with everyone around her. She leaves behind so many beautiful memories that will be treasured by her family, friends, clients, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Though she will be deeply missed, her love, laughter and beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, September 30th from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a celebration of Linda’s life beginning at 1:00PM. She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at a later date.
