

Linda Cantrell Lobre passed away peacefully on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the age of 77. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Joseph Lobre. Devoted mother of Janet Reed (the late Roy), Joey Lobre (Stacey), Amy Simon (Chris) and Scott Lobre (Bridget). Daughter of the late William and Odile Ruiz Cantrell. Sister of Patricia Melerine and the late William B. Cantrell Jr., Emile Cantrell, Norman Cantrell, Leon Cantrell, Bobby Cantrell, Bernice Hanzo, Mary Alice Matlock, Elvia Schubert, Claire Rita Estopinal, Lorraine Darce, Ethel Gagliano, Joan Fraychineaud and Earline Cantrell. She was the proud grandmother of Blaine Reed (Billie-Ann), Jonathan Lobre (Christine), Christopher Simon, Blake Lobre, Brooke Lobre, Cody Lobre, Alexis Parr (Brenden), Lane Lobre, Emily D. Lorenzo (Matt), Hailey Magee (T.J.), Hayden LeBeau, Brock Simon and Chad Simon. She is also survived and fondly remembered by her 14 great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Linda was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before finding her home in Picayune, MS. Linda's journey was one marked by the beauty she found in the intricacies of everyday life. Her ability to find joy in even the simplest moments was a testament to her remarkable outlook on life. Her heart was always filled with compassion for others, and she extended her warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her genuine care for those around her was a guiding light, and her acts of kindness left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
One of Linda's greatest sources of happiness was the time she spent with her beloved family and friends. Gatherings were more than just occasions; they were an opportunity for Linda to express her love and devotion. Her laughter and warmth created a welcoming space and made every moment memorable.
Among Linda's favorite pastimes was her occasional visit to the casino, where she found excitement and joy. The thrill of the games and the companionship of friends made each outing an adventure.
As we bid farewell to Linda, we remember her as an inspiration to enjoy life's simple pleasures, to cherish our loved ones, and to extend kindness and compassion to all. Linda's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but her legacy of love and joy will forever remain in our hearts.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, August 11th from 9:00AM – 11:00AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Linda’s memory beginning at 11:00AM. She will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
