It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Lloyd “Lucky" Gutierrez, age 77, a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish, who passed away peacefully surrounded by the family he cherished so dearly. Lucky spent his life devoted to his family, his community, and his work. He was a loyal and dedicated employee of Murphy Oil Corporation, where he worked faithfully for 34 years before retiring. Lucky was also a member of the USW Union, Local 8363.
For 43 wonderful years, he shared a loving marriage with his devoted wife, who was the love of his life and his constant companion. He was the proud father of four children and a beloved grandfather to six grandchildren, all of whom brought endless happiness to his life. Lucky was a proud past member of the St. Bernard Rod Knockers Car Club Where he often displayed his treasured classic car, a 1968 Shelby GT 500 KR. Whether gathered at family functions, laughing with good friends at car shows, or watching a New Orleans Saints game, he treasured every moment spent with those he loved.
Above all else, Lucky loved his family. His wife, children, and grandchildren were the center of his world. He will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering devotion, sense of humor, and the love he gave so freely to those around him.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 43 years, Karen Gutierrez; his children, Lloyd "LJ" Gutierrez, Katie Gutierrez Watson (Doug) and Shelby Gutierrez; his grandchildren, Sam McCammon, Kaleigh Gutierrez, Camren Gutierrez, Kallie Gutierrez, Adelyn Watson and Casey Gutierrez; his siblings, Linda Plaisance (Errance) and Larry Gutierrez; his many nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.
