Louis C. Funel Jr. passed peacefully on October 16, 2016 at the age of 82. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Joyce Morales Funel; two sons: Gary Funel (Yvette Hunnicutt) and David Funel; three grandchildren: Shasi Funel, Rachel Funel and Cory Funel; two great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and thank you to nephew Lonny Morales. Louis was born in New Orleans on December 3, 1933 and was a former resident of St. Bernard Parish. Preceded in death by his father Louis C. Funel, Sr.; mother, Rosalie Smith Cummins; Step-mother, Estelle Funel; step-brothers, Lester and Floyd "Jake" Murray; and in-laws Lucille "Teal" and Marco "Mike" Morales. After serving in the Army, Louis worked for the Exxon Mobil Refinery where he retired. Louis enjoyed Tulane baseball, carpentry, as well as spending time with his family. A visitation will be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, October 21, 2016 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 PM with Father Luke Nguyen officiating. He will be laid to rest with military honors in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, St. Bernard, LA.
