Loyl John Potter peacefully passed away this life to the next, of natural causes at his Chalmette home on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the age of 93. He was the devoted husband of the late Beverly Faye Roberts Potter for 73 years. He proudly raised his three sons Kevin Potter (Mary Kay), Keith Potter (Lois) and the late Kent Potter.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, the late Elizabeth Riess Potter, his Father, the late John Marshall Potter.
He is survived by his sister Betty Rowley. Preceded by his sisters, the late Elaine Nunez and the late Beverly Nunez.
Loyl leaves behind (7) grandkids and (17) great grandkids.
He retired from the FAA stationed at Louis Armstrong airport as a electronic technician. He also served in the Airforce during WWII as a electronic technician and was within days of beginning his pilot training prior to the war ending.
He was born, raised and spent his entire life in Chalmette with exception to his military duty. His favorite pastime was drinking coffee with other retirees at his favorite coffee shop, Aaron’s.
He mainly spent his life caring for his wife and making sure she was Loved and cared for at home. He was a loving husband, father, friend who will forever be missed. He will also be remembered for his great sense of humor.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a GRAVESIDE SERVICE at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 19, 2019, in ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL GARDENS, 701 W. VIRTUE STEET, in Chalmette, where Loyl will be laid to rest with military honors.
